Former Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is keen on a return to the club this summer.

Mike Ashley is expected to depart with the new owners taking charge soon.

The potential new owners will be looking to bring in a new manager and Newcastle have been linked with Mauricio Pochettino recently.

As per Telegraph, Benitez is keen on managing the club once again.

He did a great job during his first spell at the club and the Spaniard is adored by the Newcastle fans.

If he returns to the dugout, the fans will certainly be delighted.

Benitez will know that he has unfinished business at Newcastle. Ashley never backed him in the market and he failed to achieve his objectives.

Even then, he kept Newcastle punching above their weight every year.

If he is backed in the market by the new owners, he could certainly build Newcastle into a force next season.

Benitez is a world class tactician who has proven himself at top clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and Valencia.

He has won the major trophies and he could help Newcastle end their quest for silverware soon.

Apparently, the Spaniard is keen on signing Ross Barkley and John Stones if he returns to Newcastle.

Both players have struggled at their respective clubs and signing them shouldn’t be too difficult with Newcastle’s resources once the takeover is complete.

The only issue would be the pay-off Dalian will demand. Benitez is contracted to the Chinese outfit and they will not let him leave for nothing.
