Antonio Conte is reportedly considering leaving Inter Milan this summer after just one season in charge.
The Italian is said to be at discontent with the club’s hierarchy as he hadn’t received full support in the transfer market despite leading Inter to a second-place finish in Serie A.
Conte took charge as the Nerazzurri manager last summer – his first managerial role since leaving Chelsea in 2018 – and he has been productive in his first season, racking up a total of 82 points, one shy of the eventual Serie A leaders Juventus.
Conte said, “It has been a tough year on a personal level, very tough. I don’t think the players saw their work recognised, I don’t think I saw my work recognised and we all received very little protection from the club.”
“We have to grow and improve in all areas, including off the field, and a big club should protect its players more. We’ll discuss it all at the end of the season, I have to meet the president (Steven Zhang), and he’s in China right now.”
The report also adds that Massimiliano Allegri is in line to replace Conte should he leave San Siro this summer.
Allegri formerly managed Juve for around five years before being replaced by Maurizio Sarri last summer.
Conte has been impressive on his managerial return as Inter had registered four defeats in the league, the least of all. He has conducted a smart business in the transfer market as all incoming players have played a significant role so far.
