Atalanta 1–1 Inter: Miranchuk scored a late equaliser on debut

Alexsei Miranchuk-Atalanta

Miranchuk scored his debut goal in Serie A to earn Atalanta a draw against Inter.

Inter Milan have been held to a 1-1 draw by Atalanta, with Alexsei Miranchuk’s late equaliser cancelling out Lautaro Martinez’s goal.

Both the sides played out a goalless first half after neither of them created dangerous chances.

However, Inter found their breakthrough after the break, with Lautaro Martinez scoring a header from Ashley Young’s cross. The Argentine striker returned to the scoring form after being goalless in the last three matches. Martinez produced a sublime display against Real Madrid the Champions League despite ending on the losing side.

Inter could have added another one to their account but Atalanta goalkeeper Sportiello made a double save from Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella’s efforts.

Atalanta were back on level terms after Alexsei Miranchuk, who was off the bench, scored a brilliant goal. It also marked the first goal in Serie A for the Russian midfielder, having scored a stunner in the Champions League against Midtjylland.

Gasperini’s men could have easily added a winner, but Luis Muriel glanced his header wide from five yards inside the box.

Antonio Conte would be disappointed after not capitalising on Martinez’s goal, and the Italian manager has now overseen two consecutive draws in Serie A.

Conte is now under a little pressure after not picking a win in the last four games across all competitions.

Elsewhere, Atalanta would be relieved to get a draw although they were in pole position for a win.
