Cremonese

The wait for a league win continues for Cremonese into Game Week 14 after another disappointing outing last weekend.

The hosts come into this game on the back of a 2-2 draw with fellow relegation candidates Salernitana last time out, in a game that saw them come from behind twice to snatch a point and extend their unbeaten run in the league to two games (D2).

The result extended their wait for their first win of the season (D6, L7) but also showed that there is a steady improvement in performance and results. The newcomers have drawn three of their last four Serie A matches, with their only defeat coming via a slender 1-0 scoreline at home to Sampdoria last month.

The winner in that game arrived beyond the 75th minute, as did three of the four goals they conceded to Napoli in the home game prior, as part of a near-worst total of seven goals conceded that late in Serie A fixtures this season.

That porous defence has been the root cause of Cremonese’s struggles this season, and the relegation-threatened side come into the round having conceded the joint second-most goals in the division (24).

There is no sign of that problem getting enhanced in this game, though, given that they have conceded four goals in each of their only two home league games against sides currently inside the division’s top five.

Possible Cremonese starting line-up

Marco Carnesecchi; Leonardo Sernicola, Johan Vasquez, Luka Lochoshvili, Emanuele Valeri; Charles Pickel, Santiago Ascacibar, Luca Zanimacchia; Soualiho Meite, Cristian Buonaiuto; David Okereke.

Injured: Cyriel Dessers

Doubtful: Ionut Radu, Vlad Chiriches

Suspended: None

AC Milan

Title defenders Ac Milan made it five wins in six league games last ten out when they defeated Spezia 2-1 at the San Siro.

Goals from Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud, who was sent off in the game for taking off his shirt in celebration, sealed the win for Stefano Pioli’s men and kept them within touching distance of Napoli.

The Rossoneri currently sit in second, six points behind Napoli and will be keen to keep that distance very lean ahead of the upcoming World Cup break.

However, Milan’s inability to keep a clean sheet could be a growing concern for Pioli whose team have conceded in eight of their previous nine Serie A matches. This means that not only have they had to rely heavily on their attack but Milan have also been involved in more Serie A matches (ten) with both teams scoring on the day than any other side.

Possible AC Milan starting line-up

Ciprian Tatarusanu; Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori, Fode Ballo-Toure; Ismael Bennacer, Sandro Tonali; Junior Messias, Brahim Diaz, Rafael Leao; Divock Origi.

Injured: Alessandro Florenzi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Davide Calabria, Mike Maignan, Alexis Saelemaekers

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Olivier Giroud, Theo Hernandez

Cremonese 1-4 AC Milan
