Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini is set to extend his contract with the Italian club until the summer of 2022.

The highly experienced Italian international will be a free agent this summer, but it appears that Juventus are keen on keeping him at the club beyond this summer.

According to reports, Max Allegri wants the defender to stay at the club.

Allegri is set to take over from Andrea Pirlo as the new manager of Juventus after a disappointing season. The Serie A outfit have failed to win the league title, and they were quite mediocre in the Champions League as well.

It will be interesting to see if Allegri transform the fortunes of the Turin giants.

The incoming Juventus manager will have quite a few challenges in front of him when he takes over the job.

Argentine striker Paulo Dybala was previously linked with a move away from Juventus, and it will be interesting to see if Allegri can convince the striker to commit his long term future to the club by signing an extension. He could even take centre stage in the new project.

Meanwhile, there have been speculations surrounding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo as well, and it will be interesting to see if the Portuguese international is prepared to stay at Juventus for another season. Fans want him to stay. But the manager and Ronaldo have to work out a win-win situation, as Allegri will be interested in the long term future of Juventus.

Allegri will also have to add more quality to the side as well. Juventus were comprehensively beaten by Inter Milan to the title, and they will have to improve a lot.

That said, keeping key players like Chiellini, Dybala and Ronaldo should be the top priority for Allegri this summer. But a lot can happen around Euro 2020 this year.

It's highly likely that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be a Juventus player next season. Paulo Dybala will be at the centre of Allegri's new project. (Source: @SkySport)
