Inter Milan

After an upturn in form in recent weeks, Inter Milan have been brought back to earth with two disappointing results in their last two games.

The San Siro side were beaten 2-0 by Bayern Munich last Wednesday despite performing well at the Allianz Arena. But that loss was not as painful as their 2-0 loss to Juventus at the weekend.

In a disappointing result at the Allianz Stadium, goals from Adrien Rabiot and Nicolo Fagioli secured the win for Juve against an Inter Milan team that failed to take their chances.

The result ended a run of four consecutive league wins for Simone Inzaghi’s side who come into this tie in their worst position after 13 matches since 2016/17, a campaign they last finished outside the Serie A’s (SA) top-four.

The prospect of a poor finish is looming as a dreaded possibility this season with Inter now in seventh place, three points behind fourth-placed Atalanta.

However, a return to the San Siro for their last home game before the World Cup break could lift spirits as the Nerazzurri have won their last four games at home, each with a clean sheet. This defensive solidity has been a constant in the league, with Inter’s record (three conceded) the joint-best in home matches this season.

Possible Inter Milan starting line-up

Andre Onana; Milan Skriniar, Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni; Denzel Dumfries, Nicolò Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Federico Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Joaquin Correa.

Injured: Romelu Lukaku

Bologna

Bologna took another step forward in their bid of recovering their season after an underwhelming start last time out when they beat Torino at home.

The visitors came from a goal down to record a 2-1 win over the Turin-based club, thanks to goals from Riccardo Orsolini and Stefan Posch.

The win was their fourth win in a row in all competitions and made them the first team from Emilia-Romagna to win 900 Serie A games, including awarded matches. Having won 2-1 in their last match against Inter, Bologna could now land consecutive Serie A regular season head-to-head wins for the first time since January 1999, which should act as extra motivation.

They will fancy their chances of doing that, given that they have scored in their last 11 Serie A H2H visits. However, away form may get in the way of them doing that, as Bologna have earned just four points on the road this league campaign (L4) including a 0-2 loss at the San Siro to AC Milan. But after winning their first away game this season last time out on the road against Monza, they will feel that the tide is turning in their favour as they look to pick up consecutive away league victories for the first time since last November.

Possible Bologna starting line-up

Lukasz Skorupski; Stefan Posch, Adama Soumaoro, Jhon Lucumí; Gary Medel, Andrea Cambiaso, Jerdy Schouten, Michel Aebischer; Nicolas Dominguez, Musa Barrow; Marko Arnautovic.

Injured: Kevin Bonifazi

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
