Jose Mourinho is frustrated with AS Roma’s lack of transfer activity this summer.

The Serie A side are supposed to build on the work that Mourinho did in his first season, by signing new players. But so far, they signed just three players with only defender Zeki Çelik, who arrived from Lille, involving the payment of a transfer fee. Nemanja Matic joined up with Mourinho for a third time on a free transfer from Manchester United, while goalkeeper Mile Svilar moved from Benfica when his contract at the Portuguese side expired.

Under Mourinho, Roma won the maiden Europa Conference League cup and their first trophy for 13 years when they beat Feyenoord 1-0 in the final. The former Chelsea boss was hoping to build on the success of his first season by making the most of the summer off-season. But so far he has not signed his main transfer targets, instead, he has lost several first-team players, including Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alessandro Florenzi, Robin Olsen and Cengiz Under. There are also reports linking Roma’s Conference League final hero Nicolo Zaniolo with a move to Juventus.

With the transfer window gradually coming to an end and with no business done so far, the Portuguese has come out to criticise his club’s transfer business so far.

“You can see from the face that I am worried?” Mourinho told Corriere Dello Sport via The Mirror when asked about Roma’s business dealings.

“I’m a bit frustrated with the market. But don’t worry, don’t worry.”

The former Inter Milan boss is reportedly keen on signing a new winger, with Valencia’s Gonçalo Guedes and Sassuolo‘s Domenico Berardi his major targets. Roma are also competing to sign free agent Paulo Dybala after his Juventus contract expired.

However, the Serie A side are in danger of losing Zaniolo, Justin Kluivert and Carles Perez who are all reportedly keen to leave. Kluivert spent last season on loan with Nice and has been linked with a £10m (€12m) move to Marseille or West Ham.
