Roma are looking to sign the Manchester United left-back Alex Telles this summer.

The Brazilian signed for the Red Devils last season, but he has failed to hold down a regular starting berth at Old Trafford owing to the outstanding form of Luke Shaw.

Telles needs to leave the Premier League giants in order to play regular first-team football, and a move to Roma could be ideal for him.

According to reports, the Giallorossi view the defender as a temporary replacement for Leonardo Spinazzola, who is currently recovering from an Achilles injury.

Spinazzola picked up the injury during the European Championships with Italy, and he is set to be sidelined for up to nine months.

Jose Mourinho needs to bring in a quality alternative, and he has identified the Manchester United player as a potential target.

It is believed that Serie A side are looking to bring the player to Italy on a loan deal, but Manchester United prefer a cash sale.

It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can come to an agreement regarding the transfer in the coming weeks now.

Telles was linked with a move to Italy earlier this year as well.

It is understandable why Roma wants to sign the player on a loan deal because Spinazzola will be back towards the end of the season, and Telles will be nothing but a backup option after that.

The Italian international is the first choice left-back at the capital club, and he was outstanding for his country at EURO 2020.
