Fonseca’s men ended their losing streak with a mammoth victory over Crotone.

Roma thrashed Crotone 5-0 in Serie A to finally put an end to their losing streak.

The Italian capital club had gone through a lot in the last few weeks, suffering three defeats on the trot in Serie A and losing both the legs against Manchester United in the semi-finals of the Europa League. In the aftermath, Roma announced that Paulo Fonseca would leave at the end of this season, and it also didn’t take long for them to confirm the signing of Jose Mourino as the new manager.

After a goalless first half, Roma gave the impression they haven’t recovered from their crisis, but that wasn’t the case.

Giallorossi hit five past Crotone in the second half, with Lorenzo Pellegrini and Borja Mayoral netting a double each while Henrikh Mkhitaryan was also on target.

The win would have broken the shackles for Fonseca, who will be hoping to finish the season on a high despite the fact they will not play in the Champions League next season.

Mkhitaryan and Pellegrini – one of the best midfield duo in Serie A

Roma might have endured plenty of hardships this term, but they can still be happy about the individual performances of Mkhitaryan and Pellegrini. The former is Giallorossi’s top scorer this season, whilst the latter has shown everything to become an integral part of the Italian national team’s midfield for Euro, which will begin next month. The duo has combinedly racked up a total of 17 goals and 16 assists in Serie A this season.

Roma will next play against Inter Milan, who have been crowned the Serie A champions recently.
