Jose Mourinho was relieved of his duties by Tottenham earlier this month and the Portuguese manager is currently out of a job.
According to reports, Scottish outfit Celtic have now made an approach for the former Premier League manager and it will be interesting to see if they can lure him to Parkhead this summer.
The Hoops need to bring in a quality manager to oversee their rebuild and Mourinho would be a stunning appointment for them. Celtic have had a very poor season by their standards and Neil Lennon was sacked earlier in the season.
John Kennedy is currently the interim boss at Celtic and someone like Mourinho would be a superb permanent appointment.
That said, the Portuguese manager will probably have better offers on his table and it will be interesting to see if he’s willing to take a step down in his career and join a club like Celtic.
Perhaps a year out of the limelight could be ideal for him given how his recent managerial spells have been a failure.
Although the Scottish club have been immensely successful in their history they’re not as glamorous a project and Mourinho might prefer to stay in one of the top European leagues.
Jose Mourinho is a proven winner and there is no doubt that he could improve Celtic immensely but the appointment seems highly unlikely right now.
Celtic have been linked with the likes of Eddie Howe and Lucien Favre in the recent months and it will be interesting to see who they end up appointing eventually.
The Scottish giants were beaten to the title by Rangers this season and they will be desperate to bounce back strongly next year and reclaim their domestic crown.
An opinion here, I hope José Mourinho goes to Celtic for his next job. He would bring so many new fans to the Scottish Premiership, and it would be great to see him rival Steven Gerrard and Rangers. Would be a new challenge. Did seem they wanted Eddie Howe though, let’s see.
