The Norwegian striker scored a double in the second leg as Dortmund won the round of 16 tie with the aggregate 5-4.

Borussia Dortmund are through to the last eight of the Champions League after drawing against Sevilla in the second leg of the round of 16, winning with an aggregate score of 5-4.

Having won the first leg 3-2, Dortmund awaited the Andalusian outfit at home and the contest looked as if it was up for anyone’s grab.

Erling Haaland, who put on an eye-catching display by scoring a double in the first leg, struck first in the 35th minute after finding the nets from Marco Reus’ ball.

The Norwegian made it 2-0 shortly after the second half started as he comfortably beat the goalkeeper Bono from the penalty spot.

Sevilla tried to get back into the game after Youssef En-Nesyri’s penalty in the 68th minute and the Morrocan striker wrapped up another one in injury time as Dortmund wrapped up the tie 5-4on aggregate.

Haaland took the centre-stage again as his goal tally has risen to 10 after tonight’s game and he is the current top scorer of the Champions League. The Norwegian also became the fastest player to score 20 goals, taking only 14 games.

Furthermore, there is a significant rise in Haaland’s goalscoring form as tonight’s brace marked his fourth in the space around three weeks including the one he scored against Bayern Munich last week.

Although Sevilla and Dortmund have struggled of late in their respective leagues, it was the latter one who kept their European dreams alive.
