Juventus 2-1 Ferencvaros: Ronaldo, Morata put Juventus in round-of-16

The Bianconeri came from behind to defeat Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros.

Juventus have progressed to the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League after a thrilling 2-1 win against Ferencvaros.

Paulo Dybala had an early chance to put his side up in front after he was picked out by Cristiano Ronaldo with a lot of space. However, the Argentine’s strike was brilliantly saved by Dibusz.

Ferencvaros took the lead in the 18th minute after the goal from Uzuni, catching Juve on the break.

Cristiano Ronaldo put the Old Lady on level terms after a stunning left-footed strike, set up by Juan Cuadrado.

Federico Bernardeschi nearly scored a goal in the second half as his strike hit the crossbar. However, Juventus pulled off a comeback after Alvaro Morata scored the winning goal in the stoppage time. The Spaniard’s header met the cross from Cuadrado and the Ferencvaros goalkeeper could have done better to prevent the goal.

Juventus have sealed their spot in the Round of 16 after winning three of their four Champions League games in the group stage.

Ferencvaros often caused trouble to the hosts on the counter-attack and they will be kicking themselves for conceding a goal in injury time.

Although there are concerns over Juventus’ overall style of play, manager Andrea Pirlo has benefited much from the striker partnership between Morata and Ronaldo.

The duo has around 15 goals between them this season in all competitins and is crucial for Pirlo’s chances in the Champions League.
