Liverpool picked up a comfortable 2-0 win against Porto in the UEFA Champions League earlier tonight.

Goals from Thiago Alcantara and Mohamed Salah ensured a 100% win record for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the group stages so far.

Here at Anytime football, we look at the three major talking points from tonight’s contest.

Tyler Morton’s exceptional debut

The 19-year-old midfielder was handed his Champions League debut by Jurgen Klopp tonight and the Academy graduate barely looked out of place.

Morton was intelligent with his passing and defensive contribution. He also managed to deal with Porto’s physicality despite his lack of experience and maturity.

Thiago Alcantara ran the show for the Reds

The Spanish international midfielder was at his brilliant best tonight and he controlled the tempo of the game with his crisp and accurate passing.

Thiago also chipped in with a sensational long-range goal to give Liverpool their lead early on in the second half.

The Spaniard has not been able to perform at a high level consistently because of injury problems and tonight’s display will certainly give him the confidence to go on and establish himself as a key player for the remainder of the season.

Porto rue missed chances

The Portuguese outfit started the game in an impressive fashion and they had a couple of early chances.

However, the visitors failed to test Alisson properly and the Reds grew into the contest as the game went on.

The match slipped away from Porto in the second half but they could have easily put the Reds under pressure and taken something out of this contest if they had converted their chances in the first half.
