Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham will look to win their first UCL game in their third attempt when they welcome Frankfurt to north London this Wednesday.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League this season, with one win, one loss and one draw which came in the first leg against Frankfurt last Tuesday.

Antonio Conte’s side sit in second place with four, two points behind group leaders Sporting Lisbon and level on points with Frankfurt.

With the return legs now upon us, Tottenham will be under more pressure to secure passage in the next rounds of the UEFA competition, and Antonio Conte knows his team must put in a better performance than they did in Germany last week.

Tottenham came up against a spirited and organised Frankfurt side last week, with the Germans making life difficult for the Spurs who struggled to find the finishing touch whenever they found a way past the sea of Red and Whites. Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, in particular, saw efforts they would usually bury sail wide of the target.

After scoring six goals past Leicester City some weeks ago, Tottenham have looked limp in front of the goal, with just two goals scored in their last three matches including the 0-1 win over Brighton last weekend.

Antonio Conte will be keen to see his boys turn up the heat in their home stadium and secure all three points against the Germans this time around.

Possible Tottenham starting line-up

Hugo Lloris; Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Clement Lenglet; Emerson Royal, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Ivan Perisic; Richarlison, Son Hueng-min, Harry Kane.

Injured: Lucas Moura, Dejan Kulusevski

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Frankfurt

After winning the Europa League last season, Frankfurt have made a case in the Champions League Group stages this season, and are eying a place in the knock-out stages, however, they face stern competition from Tottenham Hotspur who sit above them on goal difference in Group D.

Oliver Glasner’s side were guilty of missing some good chances last week against Tottenham, and now return to England in a bid to finish the job they failed to do at home, and Austrian coach knows that for his side to stand a chance at making it into the knockout stages, they must come away from England with a positive result.

Frankfurt have stacked up impressive numbers when playing away from home in recent times. An impressive win over Barcelona at Camp Nou last season secured their ticket to the Europa League Final last season, and this season, Die Adler have picked up one draw, three wins and one loss in their last five games away from home, the latter being a 3-0 loss to Bochum in the German Bundesliga last weekend.

With their impressive record of games away from home and an impressive display against Tottenham Hotspur last week, Frankfurt will fancy their chances of getting another good result in England.

Possible Frankfurt starting line-up

Kevin Trapp; Ansgar Knauff, Tuta, Evan NDicka, Luca Pellegrini; Kristijan Jakic, Djibril Sow; Randal Kolo Muani, Mario Götze, Daichi Kamada: Rafael Santos Borre.

Injured: Jerome Onguene

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
