Bayern Munich welcome Lazio to Munich on Wednesday for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League knock-out tie.

Stadium: Allianz Arena

Results in First-leg: Lazio 1-4 Bayern Munich

Key Statistics

  • Hansi Flick is unbeaten as a coach in the Champions League, overseeing 14 wins and one draw.
  • Since his appointment in 2020, Bayern have scored 52 goals and conceded just ten in the UCL.
  • The Germans were top scorers in last season’s UCL with 43 goals. This season they remain the top scorers with 22 goals across seven matches.
  • Lazio are on a three-game losing run away from home in all competitions.
  • They have kept just two clean sheets in their last 15 away games, conceding 24 goals in that period.

Bayern Munich

Current Champions League holders Bayern Munich remain will look to progress to the next round of the UCL with minimum fuss when they entertain Lazio at home.

After comfortably breezing past their counterparts in the first leg, the host enter this tie with one leg in the next round. With four away goals to their name, Hansi Flick’s side might as well field a weakened XI and still get the job done.

They are on a run of four consecutive wins in all competition heading into this tie. The Bavarians also have a good home record and have not lost a home game since June last year.

Although they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven home games, their attack makes up for that deficiency as they have scored 3+ goals in six of their last ten competitive home games.

Possible Bayern Munich line-ups

Manuel Neuer; Benjamin Pavard, Jerome Boateng, Niklas Sule, Alphonso Davies; Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich; Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane; Robert Lewandowski.

Unavailable: Costa (foot), Kouassi (knee), Tolisso (thigh)

Lazio

After suffering an embarrassing 4-1 loss at home in the first leg, Lazio will be entering this tie with no hope of making it to the next round, as the deficit looks too big to overcome.

After suffering three straight defeats that started with their loss to Bayern in the first leg, the Italian side returned to winning ways on Friday with a 3-2 triumph at home to Crotone on Matchday 27. But their form means that they remain seventh in the Serie A standings, six points off the UCL qualifying places.

Simeone Inzaghi’s side drew all three of their away matches during this season’s UCL group stage, including a 1-1 draw in Dortmund, but they have not kept a clean sheet in their last 18 games in the competition.

Despite being essentially out of the competition, they will head into this tie hoping to put in a decent performance and so restore some dignity.

Possible Lazio line-ups

Pepe Reina; Patric, Francesco Acerbi, Wesley Hoedt; Adam Marusic, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Lucas Leiva, Luis Alberto, Senad Lulic; Joaquin Correa, Ciro Immobile.

Unavailable: Lazzari (calf)
Doubtful: Akpa Akpro (muscular)
Misses next match if booked: Akpa-Akpro, Hoedt, Luis Alberto, Marušić
