Neymar-PSG

PSG will host defending champions Bayern Munich in the second leg of the quarter-finals, having won the away leg 3-2.

Stadium: Parc Des Princes

Key Statistics

  • PSG emerged victorious in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final and they lead the aggregate 3-2
  • Bayern also saw their 17-match unbeaten run under Hansi Flick in UCL come to an end.
  • The Bavarians have been eliminated from the knockouts in all of their previous four instances whenever they’re losing the first-leg.
  • PSG hold a terrific record against German opponents, winning all of their last four games.

Paris-Saint Germain

PSG‘s win against Bayern in the first leg served as retaliation to their defeat in the last season’s final. Now with the scoreline of 3-2 on the aggregate, PSG would maximise their chances to progress to the last four.

Kylian Mbappe, who scored a match-winning brace at Allianz Arena, was productive once again in the weekend’s Ligue 1 fixture against Strasbourg. Neymar missed the action due to suspension but is expected to weave his magic against Bayern as he did in the first leg.

The possible return of Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florenzi would be a huge boost as Mauricio Pochettino can have a near-perfect squad for Tuesday’s clash.

Now with Verratti and Paredes expected to marshal the midfield, the danger imposed by star forwards Neymar and Mbappe could prove overwhelming for the opponents.

Possible PSG line-ups

Navas; Dagba, Pereira, Kimpembe, Diallo; Gueye, Paredes; Di Maria, Neymar, Draxler; Mbappe

Bayern Munich

From being Europe’s best club to fighting for a place in the semi-finals, Bayern Munich‘s fortunes have changed in quick time. And the injury problems have aggravated the situation for the defending champions.

Bayern were expected to dominate the first leg but PSG managed to turn the tables in the end. Now they will face an uphill battle of beating Les Parisiens on Tuesday.

Robert Lewandowski‘s absence has had a toll on the Bavarians’ over the last two games and with him missing the second leg would dwindle their chances.

Furthermore, the injuries to Serge Gnabry (COVID 19) and Leon Goretzka have given a dilemma to Flick.

Although PSG hold the away goal advantage, Bayern showed in the first leg that they can trouble Pochettino’s defence and they will look to do so on Tuesday.

Possible Bayern Munich line-ups

Neuer; Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Davies; Kimmich, Martinez; Sane, Muller, Coman; Choupo-Moting.
