Mertens and Insigne on target as Napoli defeat Parma 2-0

Italian giants Napoli will travel to Spain this week to take on Granada in the first leg of the quarter-final stage of the 2020/21 Europa League season.

Stadium: Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes

Key Statistics

  • Granada are without a win in four of their last matches
  • They conceded 0.5 goals a game on average during the group stage of the UEL
  • Napoli are currently on a four-game winning streak away from home
  • They have led at halftime in each of their last four competitive wins.

Granada

Granada qualified for the knock-out stages when they finished in second place behind PSV in the group stages. In six group-stage matches, the hosts won three and drew two (L!) to leave them with eleven points.

They head into this tie with one win from their last seven competitive matches, with their only win coming in a 6-0 win over lowly Spanish second-division side Navalcarnero.

This tie will certainly come as a welcome distraction for them as they look to bounce back by playing another team outside of Spain.

Possible Granada line-ups

Rui da Silva, Dimitri Foulquier, German Sanchez, Domingos Duarte, Carlos Neva, Yan Eteki, Jesus Vallejo, Angel Montoro Sanchez, Darwin Marcano, Kenedy, Jorge Vidal.

Napoli

Gennaro Gattuso’s side have struggled for consistency this season and have seen their Serie A title-chase flounder in recent times and they are currently ten points behind leaders Inter Milan on the domestic league table.

However, the Europa League offers them a route to a title, and the Naples side are willing to take it as they seek for their first title under Gattuso.

They qualified for this stage of the tournament after topping their group with eleven points ahead of Real Sociedad. They head into this tie with just one win from their last four games, but will be buoyed by the last performance that saw them win 1-0 against Juventus.

Possible Napoli line-ups

Alex Meret, Di Lorenzo, Nikola Maksimovic, Amir Rrahmani, Mario Rui Silva, Piotr Zieliński, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Matteo Politano, Fabian Ruiz, Lorenzo Insigne, Victor Osimhen.

Betting Odds

Granada : Draw : Napoli :: 3.30 : 3.40 : 2.20

Prediction

The game looks evenly poised, with both teams struggling for form in the domestic league.

Although Napoli will be buoyed by the return of striker and record-signing Victor Osimhen to the starting XI and will fancy their chances against this Granda side who are struggling to keep clean sheets.

However, Granada will also bank on their attack to produce the goals, meaning that the tie promises to feature goals from both teams.
