Upbeat Manchester City plot £150m squad overhaul

Manchester City are prepared to offer Pep Guardiola a bumper new contract this summer.

The Premier League giants managed to overturn their Champions League ban yesterday and they are planning for a major spending spree at the end of this season.

City conceded the title to Liverpool this season and they are desperate to reclaim their crown. They will look to tie Guardiola down to a new deal first and they will invest in top players.

As per reports, Guardiola is in the final year of his £20million-a-year contract and the club hierarchy wants to extend his stay at the Etihad.

It will be interesting to see if they can convince the Spaniard to commit his long-term future to the club. Guardiola has been linked with a return to Spain recently.

Meanwhile, the Premier League giants will hand the manager a £150m transfer kitty to bolster his squad.

Manchester City were comfortably beaten to the title this season and they will return with a vengeance. They have been linked with top players like Kalidou Koulibaly already and it will be interesting to see who they end up with.

If City can improve their defensive options, they should be able to challenge on all fronts. Their defence has let them down this season.

Apart from Laporte, the other centre backs are simply not good enough and City have not replaced Vincent Kompany yet.
