Xavi Hernandez, the former Barcelona legends and AL-Sadd manager, has shown his interest to take over the Catalans outfit. Previously he was reported as the number one choice to replace Ernesto Valverde in January.

It was widely reported that Barcelona officials even visited him in Qatar. The 39-year-old opted to stay in charge of Qatari club Al Sadd, where he finished his playing career. Later Barcelona announced Quique Setién to be their manager.

Xavi Plan for Barcelona

But now Xavi has claimed that he is ready to take over the reins at the LaLiga giants, laying down a plan to shake up Barcelona and warned against overseeing a toxic dressing room.

I am clear that I want to return to Barcelona, it gives me a lot of excitement.

Now that I have seen myself coaching I think I can bring things to the players. But I made it clear to them that I saw myself in a project that started from zero and in which the decision-making was mine.

I would like to work with people I trust, with very valid people there is mutual loyalty. There can’t be anyone toxic around the dressing room.

Former Barca legend, also reveals his plan to bring back Neymar, with whom he had worked within Camp Nou. Neymar left Catalan side, in 2017 in a world-record transfer fee, to join Ligue-1 champion Paris Saint-Germain, but has shown his interest to come back to Barcelona for some time.

Xavi also insists that Barcelona need more wingers, and reveals his choices from Bundesliga giants – Jadon Sancho and Serge Gnabry to fill the positions.

I would sign wingers, like Neymar – They just need wingers like Bayern, they don’t need many new players: maybe Jadon Sancho, Serge Gnabry…

Xavi went on to hail several of Barcelona’s current side – including Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen – as the best in the world in their positions.

It will be interesting to see how this moved in the near future, given current players have taken on board-members several times publicly, in recent time.
