Deschamps admits Pogba is mentally affected by Man United situation

Paul Pogba-Manchester United

France manager Didier Deschamps has claimed that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been impacted mentally because of his situation at the Premier League club.

The 27 year old has struggled to fit in at Old Trafford ever since his move from Juventus and it will be interesting to see if he decides to move on in the summer.

Manchester United paid a club record fee for the French international when they signed him but he has failed to deliver consistently.

Pogba was left out of Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Everton last time out after he conceded a costly penalty against Arsenal earlier this month.

It will be interesting to see if the 27 year old can hold down a regular starting berth at Manchester United in the coming months.

There is no doubt that the Frenchman is a world class talent who could transform Manchester United. However, he has not managed to adapt so far.

Deschamps said: “He’s not in his best form, of course. I knew that before the game. This match was meant to give him some rhythm. He knew that he would only play for an hour. It’s hard to remember to be positive. Obviously, he’s not in one of his better periods. Like all players who have a club situation that is not positive, they are also impacted mentally. I know him well enough and it can happen at some points.”
