Brazil has withdrawn its bid to host the Women’s World Cup 2023.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has said the government considered it not-so-wise to offer financial guarantees in the midst of the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Brazil will now support Colombia’s proposal, which will be up against Japan and a joint bid from Australia and New Zealand to host the 32-team tournament. FIFA will vote to decide the hosts on 25 June.

Brazil has been badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has caused more than 38,497 death, with more than 742,084 confirmed infections. But the number of infection can be much higher than officially documented figure, because of insufficient testing.
Brazil has previously hosted a number of major international sporting events in recent years, including the World Cup 2014 for men, the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Copa America 2019. But the CBF are not confident to Goa ahead with hosting this time, amid Coronavirus pandemic.
