Arsenal picked up a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League earlier.

Goals from Lacazette and Nelson secured a morale boosting home win for the Gunners.

Liverpool took the lead after a fantastic link up play between Robertson and Firmino. Sadio Mane finished the move off to put the Reds ahead.

Virgil van Dijk’s error on the 32nd minute brought Arsenal back into the game. The Dutchman’s poor pass found Lacazette clear in front of the Liverpool goal and the Frenchman got past Alisson and slotted home.

A similar error from Alisson allowed Nelson to score at the stroke of half time to put the home side 2-1 up.

The Reds had plenty of possession and chances to get back into the game and perhaps win it. However, they lacked the sharpness in the Arsenal box.

The likes of Mane, Salah and Firmino could have easily scored more goals on another day with the same amount of chances.

Liverpool will now look to win their remaining games and finish the season on a high. They will not be able to break the points total anymore and Klopp will be thoroughly disappointed with his team’s performance tonight.

Meanwhile, Arteta’s game plan paid off and he will be delighted with the win. Arsenal sat back and defended deep. They did well to frustrate the opposition and then took their chances when presented with.

Arsenal are now up to 9th in the league table.
