Barcelona suggested Griezmann-Felix swap deal before Bayern Munich clash

The Catalans had offered Griezmann in a swap deal for Joao Felix.

Barcelona had shockingly offered Antoine Griezmann back to Atletico Madrid before the infamous Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.

According to reports, Barcelona president proposed a swap deal for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, with Griezmann moving in the other direction. However, the Rojiblancos were not entertained by the offer and immediately snubbed it.

It comes as little surprise as Barca have attempted to sell the French World Cup-winner after just one season. Felix has struggled to fill the shoes of former Atletico star Griezmann, who likewise has been a disappointment at the Nou Camp in his debut season.

Both the players were expensive signings for their respective clubs while Griezmann’s arrival was said to be vetoed by Barcelona locker room last year.

Atletico are nonetheless interested in reuniting with Griezmann but concerned about the weight of the squad.

Griezmann has been deemed untransferable alongside few others by Barca, who are planning for a squad overhaul.

Ronald Koeman, the new manager of the Blaugrana, has recently stated that Griezmann needs to be reverted to his original position. The 29-year-old played mostly as a left-sided winger in his debut season.

The former Real Sociedad star is expected to play a crucial role under Koeman, with many of the big guns like Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi linked with an exit this summer.

Griezmann has also been tipped to receive the No.7 shirt, which has been previously occupied by Philippe Coutinho.
