Bayer Leverkusen and picked up a 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga earlier tonight.

Goals from Mitchel Bakker, Patrik Schick, Moussa Diaby and Nadiem Amiri helped Leverkusen seal a memorable win over their Rhenish rivals.

Bad start for Gladbach – Bizarre opening goal, Injuries and penalty miss

Leverkusen were handed an early lead in the game when Mitchell Bakker’s shot hit the post and then bounced off Yann Sommer before heading into the net.

From there on, Leverkusen controlled the proceedings and Gladbach struggled to get back into the contest.

Gladbach were handed a lifeline when they won a penalty in the first half but Lars Stindl failed to convert from the spot.

Leverkusen’s impressive start to the season

Bayer Leverkusen are currently second in the Bundesliga table having picked up four points from two matches and they will be delighted with their impressive start to the season.

They are ahead of the likes of RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in the table and Leverkusen will fancy putting together a winning run now.

Despite not controlling the game against Gladbach tonight, they managed to grind out all three points. The visitors had more ball possession and more efforts on target, but it was Leverkusen who managed to score four times without reply.
