Chelsea are all set to sign the German striker Timo Werner this summer.

The Blues have beaten Premier League rivals Liverpool to the 24-year-old’s signature.

As per telegraph, Chelsea will pay the striker’s £53  million release clause and the player will earn around £200,000 per week in wages.

It seems that Liverpool were not keen on spending that much on one single player.

The Reds will have faced major losses due to the current Coronavirus crisis and they will have to be frugal in the transfer market this summer.

Werner is one of the best young forwards in the game right now and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the Premier League.

The Bundesliga has a similar style to that of the Premier League and Werner has proven his quality there. He should be able to adapt to Chelsea’s style as well.

The Blues have been more adventuruous under Frank Lampard and the German forward should benefit from that approach.

He will have quality creators like Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi and Ziyech behind him next season. Werner could really make his mark in England if he gets good service.

It seems that Chelsea are determined to fight for the top honours next season. They have already signed two quality young players in Ziyech and Werner.

They are thought to be keen on Leicester’s Ben Chilwell as well. The defender would be an upgrade on Alonso/Palmieri.

If they can bring in a quality centre back, Chelsea could real contenders for the title.
