Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid Madrid will take on Real Madrid in what will be the most exciting fixture in the Spanish La Liga this weekend.

Diego Simeone’s side saw their run of six consecutive games without a loss come to an early end in midweek when they succumbed to a 2-0 loss to German side Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

With three wins from their last five games in the Spanish topflight, including an impressive 4-1 win over Celta Vigo in their last outing in La Liga, the Rojiblancos come into this game in seventh place with ten points, two points away from the Champions League places, and are desperate for a win.

Diego Simeone’s side recorded a 1-0 win in this fixture last season with a Yannick Carrasco spot kick, enough to make sure that the Argentine coach tasted victory in the Madrid Derby at the Wanda Metropolitano for the first time.

Los Rojiblancos will be aiming to make it two in a row when Carlo Ancelotti’s side come visiting, knowing that a win will potentially send them into the top four and cut the gap on the league leaders to two.

Possible Atletico Madrid starting line-up

Ivo Grbic; Nahuel Molina Lucero, Mario Hermoso, Reinildo, Axel Witsel, Yannick Carrasco; Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo De Paul, Thomas Lemar; Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata.

Injured: Stefan Savic, Sergio Reguilon, Jose Gimenez

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Real Madrid

Los Blancos have been dominant in the Madrid Derby recently with three wins, one draw and a single loss in their last five encounters with Diego Simeone’s side.

Real Madrid have made an impeccable start to the season, winning all seven of their matches in all competitions, including a 2-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Carlo Ancelotti has managed the absence of Karim Benzema well, with his team picking up impressive victories over Real Mallorca and Leipzig without their talismanic striker.

However, the Italian coach will be sweating on the fitness of the Frenchman who needs further observation to ascertain if he’ll take any part in Saturday’s fixture as his team face their biggest test of the season yet. But with the consistent form of Vinicius Jr, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo and Marco Asensio,ge to the Atletico back-line.

Los Blancos currently leads the pack of the title-chasing sides with two points and knows any dropped points will be lethal to their title defence this season.

Possible Real Madrid starting line-up

Thibaut Courtois; Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy; Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Federico Valverde; Eden Hazard, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo.

Injured: Karim Benzema, Eder Militao

Doubtful: Alvaro Odriozola, Lucas
