Real Madrid

Real Madrid will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Levante to the capital on Thursday.

The hosts have already secured a record-extending 35th La Liga title and, with one eye on their upcoming UEFA Champions League final, are at liberty to take their foot off the gas in the La Liga. They come into this tie on the back of a 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.

The loss was a result of some of the changes that Carlo Ancelotti made in the starting line-up in that game. They may field a weakened side here too, but Real will be wary of slipping to consecutive league losses for the first time since May 2019.

‘Los Blancos’ meanwhile will need to be in their best shape after winning just a third of their matches against Levante since 2017/18 (W3, D3, L3).

Two of those three losses have come at the Santiago Bernabeu which has been a happy hunting ground for Madrid this season, as they have won five from their last six La Liga home matches and boast a whopping 53% clean sheet average for the league campaign.

Possible Real Madrid starting line-up

Anriy Lunin; Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Jesus Vallejo, Nacho Fernandez; Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric; Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema.

Injured: Gareth Bale, Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard, Marcelo, Miguel Gutierrez

Doubtful: Isco, Nacho Fernandez

Suspended: None

Levante

Levante have one last chance to keep their place in the La Liga when they travel to the capital on Thursday.

The visitors are staring into the abyss after a tricky season, knowing failure to win here coupled with a Granada victory over Athletic Bilbao will confirm relegation after five top-flight campaigns.

However, to their credit, they remain the only La Liga side to take points from Madrid after conceding the match opener. They now have a chance to collect points in both H2H encounters for only the second time ever in the competition.

Four points from their last two away games, including the club’s biggest away La Liga win of the season (4-1 win over Granada) suggest that the ‘Frogs’ are unlikely to go down without a fight.

Possible Levante starting line-up

Dani Cardenas; Jorge Miramon, Pier Rober, Oscar Duarte, Ruben Vezo, Francisco Son; Nemanja Radoja, Pepelu, Jose Campana; Luis Morales, Daniel Gomez.

Injured: Roberto Soldado, Carlos Clerc, Jorge de Frutos

Doubtful: Shkodran Mustafi

Suspended: None
