Barcelona-bound Robert Lewandowski has bid goodbye to his Bayern Munich teammates as he prepares to sign for the La Liga side.
The big Pole finally secured a move to the Catalan side on Saturday as his club, Bayern Munich, accepted Barcelona’s offer for him, giving him the chance to seal a move he had long wanted.
Ahead of travelling for his medical and joining up with the Barca squad who are in Miami, Lewandowski on Saturday said goodbye to his Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann and his teammates.
“I will come back and say a proper goodbye to all the employees. I didn’t have much time to prepare for it,’ he told Sky Sports News in Germany via 90min.
“These eight years were special and you don’t forget that. I had a great time in Munich. I will fly soon, but after the training camp, I will come back and say goodbye properly and organise a few more things.
“I said goodbye to the guys on the pitch today. I wasn’t worried about an injury in training. Something can happen to me at home. Wanted to keep fit and trained with the boys again.”
The 33-year-old striker was pictured embracing Nagelsmann before leaving Bayern’s training ground.
His move to Barcelona will reportedly cost the Catalan club around £42.5million plus another £5m in add-ons.
He is expected to sign a three-year deal at the Nou Camp with the option of a fourth, with the deal expected to be sealed by Sunday.
Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn told BILD:
“We have reached an agreement with Barcelona for Robert Lewandowski. It’s done – agreement, the contract is still pending.”
Club president Herbert Hainer added: “We have a verbal commitment from Barcelona. It is good for both parties that we have clarity. Robert is a very deserving player. He has won everything with us. We are incredibly grateful to him.”
