Xavi reveals his dream to manage Barca

Xavi has once again spoken about his future amid rumours linking him with Barcelona, stating he dreams of managing the Catalan club.

The Blaugrana legend has been reportedly identified as one of the managers to replace underperforming Ronald Koeman.

The former Spanish international, who is currently in charge of Al Sadd, says that he wants to return to the Nou Camp but he feels happy in Qatar for the time being.

Xavi said: “My idea is to coach Barcelona. I have never hidden it, it is my goal and my dream. I don’t know if it will happen or not if they will need me or not, but at the moment I am happy to be in Al-Sadd and very proud of it.

“If an offer comes in, it will be evaluated and then we will try to decide, but at the moment I am very happy here.”

He also revealed the reason behind turning down the chance to coach Barca during the reign of then-president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Xavi added (h/t Marca): “When they offered me it, I’d only been a coach for three months, but now it’s different. I have more experience and I’m learning a lot here.”

Xavi heaps praise on young midfielder Gavi

Xavi has been left astounded by 17-year-old Gavis premature talent, stating that the young Spaniard plays as if he is 30-year-old.

Gavi turns out to be a revelation for Barca this season after becoming an integral part of the midfield in the first team. His talent also caught the attention of Spanish national team manager Luis Enrique, who threw the La Masia midfielder straight into the starting 11 in the Nations League semi-finals and final.

Xavi on Gavi (h/t Diario AS): “He’s a guy with so much talent. What surprises me the most is that he is only 17 years old and he is competing like a guy who is 30 years old.

“He is already showing at the age of just 17 that he can compete at the highest level. It’s incredible. Technically, he is very good and he also has the physical attributes to be a success. He has everything to succeed and has a big future ahead of him.”
