PSG will continue their quest for the Ligue 1 title this Saturday as they travel to Clermont-Ferrand to face Clermont in the 31st Round of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Venue: Stade Gabriel Montpied (Clermont-Ferrand)

Key Statistics

Clermont have won just one of their previous ten Ligue 1 outings at home, drawing three and losing six.

The hosts are the only side yet to score at home after the 75th minute this Ligue 1 season.

Clermont’s Mohamed Bayo has opened the scoring in seven league games this season.

Paris Saint-Germain are the joint top-scoring side in Ligue this season with 64 goals (level with Rennes).

The visitors have won 14 of their 15 league meetings against current bottom-half teams, including a 4-0 win in the reverse H2H.

They have lost their last four away games in all competitions.

Head to head

PSG beat Clermont 4-0 the last time both teams met in the reverse fixture. But Clermont defeated PSG via a penalty shoot-out in the Coupe de France when both sides met in the host’s stadium for the first time back in 1997.

Clermont

Ligue 1 newcomers Clermont will look to halt a rotten run of form when they welcome league leaders PSG to Stade Gabriel Montpied this weekend.

After a decent start to their Ligue 1 campaign, the hosts have started showing signs of fatigue. They suffered a fourth straight defeat in Ligue 1 last time out against Nantes (3-2) and so spent midweek only one point above the bottom three.

Pascal Gastien’s side are in real danger of spending their first week in the drop zone in 2021/22 unless they can achieve a monumental upset by defeating PSG.

But having lost six of their previous ten Ligue 1 outings at the Gabriel Montpied Stadium (three draws and one win), they are not guaranteed a good result in this game.

But their sole win at home came against current top-three side Rennes (2-1), and so they will hope for a repeat result in this fixture.

Possible Clermont starting line-up

Ouparine Djoco; Akin Zedadka, Florent Ogier, Alidu Seidu, Wital N’Simba; Jason Berthomier, Yohann Magnin, Saif-Eddine Khaouli; Jim Allevinah, Jodel Dossou, Mohamed Bayo.

Injured: Lucas Da Cunha, Arthur Desmas, Johan Gastien, Pierre-Yves Hamel, Cedric Hountondji, Elbasan Rashani

Paris Saint-Germain

PSG put their disappointments of March behind them when they opened their account for this month with a 5-1 win over Lorient last weekend.

That win maintained the ‘Parisians’ double-digit lead at the top of the table as they look to tie St Étienne as the most successful team in French top-flight history with a tenth Ligue 1 title.

Given the pressure they are facing recently, the hosts will be desperate for a win. Not only have their fans turned against the coach Mauricio Pochettino, who became the first PSG coach to lose four successive top-flight road trips since the start of the club’s Qatari-backed era, the players also, including Lionel Messi and Neymar are being criticized by a section of the fan base.

And so, the visitors will want to avoid another embarrassing away day as they attempt to win their first game away from Paris since the end of February.

Considering that they have won 14 of their 15 league meetings against current bottom-half teams, including a 4-0 win in the reverse H2H, they will fancy their chances of getting a big win in this game.

Possible PSG starting line-up

Gianluigi Donnarumma; Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes; Danilo Pereira, Idrissa Gueye, Georginio Wijnaldum; Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar.

Injured: Juan Bernat, Angel di Maria, Abdou Diallo, Julian Draxler, Keylor Navas, Marco Verratti, Ander Herrera, Sergio Ramos and Layvin Kurzawa
