Manchester United 0-0 Real Sociedad: Both teams share the spoils at Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes-Manchester United

Manchester United played out a goalless draw against Real Sociedad in the Europa League earlier tonight.

The Premier League side managed to win the first leg 4-0 and it was enough to see them through to the round of 16 of the competition. Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James scored for the hosts in the first leg.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to give the youngsters a runout tonight and the likes of Shola Shoretire and Amad Diallo will be pleased to have made an appearance in Europe with the first team.

This opportunity could prove to be a valuable experience for them and they will be motivated to work harder and cement their place in the first-team squad now.

The likes of Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly and Alex Sandro were given the chance to impress tonight as well.

Apart from that, it was a flat performance from Manchester United who struggled to create any meaningful chances against the Spanish outfit.

Axel Tuanzebe managed to put the ball in the net for the home side but it was disallowed because of a foul from Victor Lindelof.

Real Sociedad were beaten comprehensively at home and they will be relieved to have salvaged some pride at Old Trafford.

It was a dead rubber game for them but they managed to step up and grind out a draw here.

Manchester United will have to improve offensively in the latter stages of the competition if they want to win the Europa League.
