Real Madrid attacker Eden Hazard has reportedly been offered to Chelsea and Newcastle United as a January transfer option.

The Belgian attacker is struggling for game-time at the Bernabeu but has now been offered a route out of the club through the Premier League sides.

Injuries have been the major reason for Hazard’s difficult time at Madrid. But now, even though he is fit, he is behind Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo in the pecking order. Just this week, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti gave a grim assessment of Hazard’s chances at the Spanish club, telling the Belgian to come to terms with the reality that he (Ancelotti) prefers some players to him.

Since his £89million move from Chelsea two years ago, Hazard has scored just five goals across 52 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos.

And according to ESPN, several Premier League clubs, including former club Chelsea, as well as Newcastle, have been contacted over their interest in signing the Belgian in January. However, it is unclear at this stage whether Newcastle or Chelsea have a genuine interest in Hazard, and whether the Belgian is willing to call time on his career at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are looking to raise funds for a big summer window in 2022, and have identified Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland as their major targets.

According to the report by ESPN, Madrid will hope to recoup at least €50m (£42m) from Hazard, who still has three years left on his deal at the Bernabeu.

Such figure is within the range of Newcastle who are expected to spend big in January following their £305m Saudi-backed takeover.
