Crystal Palace 1-4 Chelsea: Havertz, Pulisic on target as the Blues bounce back in style

Christian Pulisic-Chelsea

Chelsea moved back into the top four of the Premier League with a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace earlier tonight.

The Blues were full of confidence after the midweek win over Porto and Thomas Tuchel’s men managed to step up and get the job done.

Chelsea were beaten by West Brom in the league last time out and they were in desperate need of a win here. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can build on this and finish the season strongly now.

Missing out on the Champions League would be a hammer blow for the Blues and a top finish will be a priority for them.

Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Kurt Zouma scored to ensure a comfortable win for the Blues.

Christian Benteke scored a consolation goal to reduce the deficit but a comeback seemed quite unlikely for the Eagles.

The Blues were in cruise control from the start and the fans will be impressed with the quick, precision passing on display tonight. Palace struggled to cope with Chelsea’s high pressing and clinical finishing.

Chelsea seemed motivated on the night and they were relentless with their attacking display in both halves.

Palace had come into the game on the back of three consecutive clean sheets at home but their defence was easily breached by the Blues. Palace could have easily ended up conceding more goals on another day.

With 38 points, Roy Hodgson’s side will not be in danger of relegation but they will be hoping to finish the season on a high by winning most of their remaining fixtures.

The Blues continue their sensational run of form against Palace and they have now won each of their last seven Premier League games against the Eagles. Furthermore, Tuchel’s men continue to prove their quality on the road with the Blues yet to lose away from home in the league since the arrival of the German manager.

The fans will be particularly happy with Kai Havertz scoring and assisting in a single league game for the first time as a Chelsea player. The German needs to build up his confidence and tonight’s display will certainly give him some belief.
