Roma 1-2 AC Milan: Ante Rebic seals narrow win for Milan

AC Milan kept the pressure up on Inter Milan at the top of the table with a narrow win over AS Roma on Sunday.

Goals from Franck Kessié and Ante Rebic cancelled out Jordan Veretout’s super strike to hand Stefano Pioli’s men a deserved to win.

Roma fought hard, but in the end, the visitors did just enough to win their first league game in three and close the gap to four points behind rival Inter.

AC Milan began the game brightly, scoring within the opening five minutes through Fikayo Tomori. However, the Milan defender’s goal was ruled out by VAR as he was adjudged to be offside.

The visitors kept plucking away at their visitors, coming very close in the 27th minute, but Simon Kjaer’s header crashed off the crossbar from a corner.

However, Franck Kessié opened the scoring for the visitors in the 43rd minute, converting from the penalty spot as Milan headed into the first half with a one-goal advantage.

AS Roma levelled the scoring shortly after the break through Jordan Veretout. The French midfielder found the top corner with a ferocious drive in the 50th minute that Donnarumma had no chance to deal with.

However, despite enjoying much of the ball, AS Roma fell behind for the second time in the game. This time Ante Rebic capitalised on a defensive mistake from Lopez to hand his side the lead against the run of play.

The hosts tried to find a way back into the game, but could not break down an organised AC Milan defence.
