Erling Haaland-Borussia Dortmund

Sevilla will host Borussia Dortmund in an exciting Champions League round of 16 clash.

Stadium: Ramon Sanchez Pijzuan

Key statistics

  • This will be the first meeting between Dortmund and Sevilla in the Champions League as they had previously played once in 2010/11 Europa League.
  • Dortmund hold a poor record on the Spanish soil, winning none of their last 10 games in the European competitions.

Sevilla

Sevilla have made a late surge this season and their recent victory against Huesca marks their ninth straight win across all competitions.

Julen Lopetegui’s impact at the Andalusian outfit has been evident since day 1, leading them to the Europa League title last term and now are in contention for a top-four finish this season.

Sevilla ended up behind Chelsea in Group E and will look to translate their current run of form to the knockout stages. Their recent big victory came against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-finals (leg 1).

Lucas Ocampos and full-backs Marcus Acuna and Jesus Navas are unavailable for the selection due to injury however Sevilla will look to get the best out of in-form striker Youssef En-Nesyri. Young central defender Jules Kounde is another player to keep an eye on.

Possible line-up: Bono; Vidal, Jules Kounde, Diego Carlos, Escudero; Fernando, Joan Jordan, Ivan Rakitic; Suso, Papu Gomez; Youssef En-Nesyri

Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have been quite fluctuating this season which saw them lose their manager Lucian Favre a while ago. Interim manager Edin Terzic hasn’t given the best impression since taking the charge.

Currently sixth in the Bundesliga table, Dortmund’s chances of making to top-four looks bleak but they will look to give their best in the Champions League.

The men in Black and Yellow were delighted to see both Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho returning to their best as the duo can cause problems to Sevilla’s attack. Young midfielders Gio Reyna and Jude Bellingham are also expected to play a key role in this tie.

Possible line-up: Marwin Hitz; Emre Can, Manuel Akanji, Mat Hummels, Raphael Guerreiro; Jude Bellingham, Thomas Delaney; Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus, Gio Reyna; Erling Haaland

Betting odds:

Prediction: Sevilla 1 – 1 Dortmund
