Wellington Phoenix were held to a 2-2 draw by Perth Glory in their 25th A-League match on Sunday.

The hosts who currently occupy 7th place could have climbed above Macarthur FC in the standings but have missed the opportunity with just one game left.

They will now be hoping that Western United will do them a favour by winning Macarthur FC tomorrow.

Despite the draw, the Nix will take some positives out of this tie as they prepare for their last match of the regular season.

The hosts began the game in promising fashion and were ahead in the 25th minute when Tomer Hemed drove home a ferocious outside of the box shot to hand his side the lead.

The goal was the forward’s tenth goal of the season and the tenth goal scored outside the box this season by Phoenix—the most in the league this season.

However, the visitors attuned their hosts in the second half with two Phoenix goals in the space of 13 minutes, turning the tie around.

The first goal came in the 61st minute when Diego Castro found substitute Fornaroli to level the scores and score his 12th goal of the season.

The goalscorer turned provider in the 73rd minute, feeding Callum Timmins, who finished with aplomb from 40 yards out to score his first A-League goal.
