Arsenal captain Aubameyang is reportedly agreed for a Barcelona move
  • Aubameyang’s contract with Arsenal ends in June, 2021
  • Barcelona identified the striker as a replacement for Luis Suarez
  • The move, if materialised, would jeopardise Arsenal’s chances to finish fourth in Premier league.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Arsenal captain, has reportedly agreed in personal terms, to move to Barcelona. The Gabonese striker is yet to commit to a new contract with Gunners and will enter the final year of his current deal after current season.

Barcelona identified Suarez replacement

Barcelona were looking for Suarez replacement for sometime now. Since, the Uruguayen is out with injury for few months, they might think this to be right time for bringing in a new number nine. The new boss, Quique Setien is now forced into the transfer market for Suarez replacement. The Uruguayan ace was forced to go under the knife to rectify a problem in his knee.

With no other out-and-out strikers in the senior squad, Setien has targeted Aubameyang.

Aubameyang situation in Arsenal

Arsenal remain hopeful of tying the 30-year-old down to new terms, but Aubameyang is desperate to win trophies. Mundo Deportivo has reported, Aubameyang has already told Barca that he is open to a switch.

The report claims that the move will now primarily depend on whether Aubameyang, who is current Arsenal captain, will attempt to force a transfer to Camp Nou. The Gunners are in the compromising position of potentially losing their captain for nothing at the end of next season.

Arsenal, however, will definitely need Aubameyang service, in order to boost their chances of securing a fourth-place finish in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s side is currently sitting at 10th place in the table and are 10 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Aubameyang only joined Arsenal in 2018 and has score 57 times in 91 matches in all competitions.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Comments

Barcelona are believed to be looking for the Aubameyang move this month. Lets see how things unfold during remaining days in January!

Aubameyang has previously stressed his commitment to Arsenal, but any concrete offer from Barcelona would be too tempting to resist. He said recently: “I would like to react to some of the rumours that are going around about me in the media. “People like making up stories and they should focus on what’s happening on the pitch. They talk too much, and it does my head in!

He further re-emphasised, ‘I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs.”
