Lucas Alario-Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have edged out Borussia Monchengladbach in a seven-goal thriller in Bundesliga at BayArena

Lucas Alario scored a brace in the first half while Leon Bailey and Julian Baumgartlinger found the scoresheet in the second half in Bayern Leverkusen’s 4-3 win over Gladbach.

With today’s win Bayer moved to fouth spot in Bundesliga table and Gladbach ended at 7th spot in Bundesliga table.

Lars Stindl’s penalty put the visitors ahead not long before Bayer levelled through Lucas Alario’s strike. The Argentine produced a sublime finish to put the ball into the top-right corner of the net.

Stindl restored the lead minutes later but Alario cancelled it once again after scoring the header from Florian Wirtz’s cross.

Bayer found the lead in the second half Leon Bailey’s sliding goal, which went between the legs of goalkeeper Yan Sommer and Julain Bumagartlinger followed up with another goal to make it 4-2.

Valentino Lazaro scored the third goal for Gladbach in the dying seconds of the game after a spectacular back-heel finish.

Alario has been in good nick of form this season, netting seven goals in Bundesliga and is second in the scoring charts, trailing Robert Lewandowski by four goals. Bailey also registered his first goal of the season after today’s strike.

The win also sends Leverkusen to third in the Bundesliga table and they are yet to face a defeat in this season.

Meanwhile, Gladbach would be disappointed with the result as they are coming off a spectacular 6-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. Marco Rose’s men have lost two games in Bundesliga so far and are currently seventh in the table.
