MLS coach Raphael Wicky claims that Reyna could soon seal a transfer to one of Europe’s top clubs.

MLS outfit Chicago Fire’s manager and former USMNT U-17 coach Raphael Wicky has claimed that Gio Reyna is bound to play for one of Europe’s top five clubs.

Reyna burst onto the scene after a stellar debut season with Borussia Dortmund last term, quickly becoming one of the coveted players in Europe.

Aged just 18, the USMNT international is already considered as one of the best players in the Bundesliga.

Reyna’s former coach Wicky believes the teenager has the potential to play for Europe’s elite clubs, including Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich.

Wicky said: “Gio Reyna has star potential.

“Even as his coach with the U17s, I was blown away by his unbelievable game intelligence and technical abilities, combined with his superb physical conditioning.

“He struck gold with his transfer to Germany. Training at BVB, he’s improved his game against the ball and defensive game. He fights for the good of the team and has internalised a winning mentality.

“If Gio continues to develop like this, he can go up another level and play for one of the best five teams in the world, including Bayern Munich.”

Reyna picked up where he left last season by already scoring two goals in three Bundesliga appearances this term.

He played a pivotal role for Die Borussen to scrape up a place in the Champions League last season.

During the international break, Reyna picked up a hamstring injury and could be out of action for a week or two.
