Borussia Dortmund thrashed Paderborn 6-1 in Benteler-Arena to keep themselves in Bundesliga champion race. Jadon Sancho started today to score a hat-trick for the visitors.

Borussia Dortmund made two changes from Der Klassiker defeat against Bayern in mid week, Jadon Sancho started for the first time since the Bundesliga restarted, as Erling Haaland sustained an injury. Emre Can also started in the midfield in place for injured Mahmoud Dahoud.

The home-side also made two changes. Christian Strohdiek comes into the defence in place of Laurent Jans, while Klaus Gjasula is suspended and replaced by Mohamed Draager.

Goals – Jadon Sancho scores hat-trick

The match was at 0-0 till 54′, who Thorgan Hazard stroke the first goal from 7 metres, from a cross from Emre Can, before Zingerle saved on two occasions. Those attempts were made by Hazard himself and Hakimi at 18′ and 53′ respectively.

Jadon Sancho scored three goals at 57′, 74′ and during injury time. After scoring his first goal, Sancho took off his shirt to reveal ‘Justice For George Floyd’ written on T-shirt inside. 

In between Paderborn strongly came back into the game in 56′ as Emre Can conceded a penalty and a booking, as ball touched his elbow inside penalty area. Hünemeier scored from penalty.

But as Sancho scored the third there was no looking back for BVB, and Hakimi sealed the match with a low plunge from the top of penalty area at 84′.

Nevertheless, Black-and-yellow plunged another two till the end of the match. As BVB veteran, Schmelzer scored at 89′ before Sancho complete his hat-trick.
