Barcelona eyeing a double swoop for Arsenal stars Aubameyang, Lacazette

Arsenal 1-1 Leicester Vardy scored late equaliser, after Auba gave Gunners lead

The Catalan club wants to bolster the attacking option following Lionel Messi’s departure.

Barcelona are reportedly plotting a shock summer move for Arsenal duo Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Catalan club have recently let go of Lionel Messi, and manager Ronald Koeman wants to bring in attacking reinforcements before the summer transfer window expires.

However, it has been added that Barca, who are in deep waters financially, could sign a player only through exchange deals.

Furthermore, Martin Braithwaite’s departure could only facilitate further incoming transfers, and the Danish international has drawn interest from a host of Premier League clubs.

Barca are keeping tabs on the Gunners duo Aubameyang and Lacazette, with the latter being previously linked to Atletico Madrid.

The attacking duo missed the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat against Brentford in the Premier League opener due to illness. Aubameyang has a contract running until 2023, but his form suffered a dip last season. Elsewhere, his strike partner Lacazette has only one year left in his contract and is open to leaving the Emirates Stadium.

Barca embarked on their new post-Messi era with a thumping win against Real Sociedad. Memphis Depay, Antonie Griezmann and Braithwaite were excellent, with the latter one scoring a brace.

Braithwaite might have solidified his place in the starting line-up after the heroics against Sociedad, and now it remains to be seen whether Koeman would give the go-ahead for the Danish striker’s departure.

Besides, Koeman can rely on plenty of reserved talents like Rey Manaj, Alex Collado and Yusuf Demir, who have shown promise in the pre-season.
