Rudiger will have lower his demands to join Barcelona

Barcelona are in talks to sign the Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer this summer but the German international will have to lower his wage demands in order for the transfer to go through.

According to a report from Sport, Rudiger is demanding wages of around €7 million per season and a signing bonus to join the Spanish giants.

While Barcelona are keen on signing the player and he is rated highly by Xavi Hernandez, the Spanish club are looking to sign him for lower wages.

The Spanish giants have been under financial pressure for a year now and it will be interesting to see if they can agree on a deal with the Chelsea defender in the coming months.

Rudiger is nearing the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge and he has refused to sign an extension but Chelsea so far.

The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League and he could be a quality acquisition for Barcelona. The German is at the peak of his powers right now and he could make an immediate impact at the Spanish club.

Araujo extension in doubt

Meanwhile, Barcelona are looking to agree on a new contract with defender Ronald Araujo as well.

The 23-year-old has been offered a new contract at the Spanish club but the two parties are yet to reach an agreement regarding an extension.

Furthermore, Barcelona’s pursuit of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have not gone down well with the Uruguayan defender who believes that his performances on the pitch are not being appreciated fully as per Sport.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can convince Araujo to sign a new contract at the club in the coming months now.

The 23-year-old has been a key player for Barcelona this season and he has the potential to develop into a top-class player in the future.

Apparently Manchester United are keen on signing the defender as well and it remains to be seen how his situation develops over the next few months.
