Sevilla

Sevilla have not enjoyed a good start to the season, winning just once, amid questions surrounding the future of manager Julen Lopetegui and even dissent over Sporting Director Monchi’s summer work, the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan has been a tough place to be.

After losing first choice centre backs Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos in the summer transfer window, Sevilla director Monchi has been slated for not bringing in adequate reinforcements to make up for the loss of the duo who were the heart of one of the best defensive units in the league last season.

The loss has left a gaping hole in the defence, with Sevilla conceding 15 goals in all competitions already this season, eleven in the League, more than half the number they conceded by this time last season.

With continued pressure mounting on Julen Lopetegui, the international would have been a time for reflections for the Spanish coach.

Sevilla have been presented with a chance to restart their season on the right note with a game against Diego Simeone’s side who have enjoyed just one win in their last five meetings against the Seville-based side.

Los Nervionenses are currently on a three-game unbeaten streak against the Madrid-based side and will be looking to make it four on the bounce and get their season back on track with a possible three points.

Possible Sevilla starting line-up

Yassine Bounou; Jose Angel Carmona, Kike Salas, Nemanja Gudelj, Marcos Acuna; Joan Jordan, Fernando; Isco, Dario Gomez, Erik Lamela, Youssef En-Nesyri.

Injured: Marcao, Jesus Corona,

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Atlético Madrid

Diego Simeone will take his side to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan with a point to prove against Julen Lopetegui’s side who have been a hard nut to crack in recent encounters.

Los Rojiblancos come into this game off the back of a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Madrid Derby before the international break–their second defeat in a row after losing to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

The visitors have three wins and two losses and one draw from six games and have secured ten points out of a possible 18, which has left Los Rojiblancos in seventh place in the La Liga standings.

Diego Simeone’s men have a lot of ground to cover if they are to challenge the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona for the title this season.

Atletico Madrid have not had the best of results goal wise and their defensive ability which came to be a mainstay throughout Diego Simeone’s tenure has waned drastically in recent years. Such is their plight that the Madrid side have been able to keep only two clean sheets this season. Up-front, the continued saga with Barcelona over the contract of Antoine Griezmann has seen the French man make only cameo appearances which has inadvertently cost the team as the French man is the only attacker with a goal to his name apart from Alvaro Morata.

However, Diego Simeone will be confident of his side getting a good result against Sevilla owing to their recent struggles.

Possible Atlético Madrid starting line-up

Jan Oblak; Marcos Llorente, Stefan Savic, Reinildo Mandava, Axel Witsel, Yannick Carrasco; Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo De Paul, Koke; Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata.

Injured: Sergio Reguilon,

Doubtful: Jose Gimenez

Suspended: Mario Hermoso
