Paris Saint-Germain picked up a 2-0 away win over Brest to finish their League campaign earlier tonight.

An own goal from Romaine Faivre and a second-half strike from Kylian Mbappe wrapped up the victory for Mauricio Pochettino’ side, but it wasn’t enough for them to win the title.

Keylor Navas was the best player on the pitch

Despite PSG having outstanding quality across the pitch, the goalkeeper Navas emerged as the star from tonight’s contest.

The South American produced quite a few impressive saves to keep a clean sheet in a must-win game for PSG.

The work that Navas had to do against a largely unimpressive Brest side, shows that PSG will have to improve their defensive organisation next season.

Late push not enough to win the title

PSG needed to win their game tonight, and they were hoping that Lille would drop points so that they can defend their title this season. However, the League leaders managed to win their game, and PSG have now failed to win the title for the first time since 2017.

Paris side have won 7 of the last 9 league titles, and the French outfit will be bitterly disappointed with their showing this season.

Kylian Mbappe’s future

Tonight’s outcome could have a significant impact on the future of French international Kylian Mbappe.

The World Cup winner has always maintained that he wants an ambitious project, and the failure to win the League title despite having a hugely superior squad compared to the other teams could force the forward to consider his future at PSG.

The player has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid in recent months, and it will be interesting to see if he decides to move on.

PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi about Kylian Mbappé’s future: “For me, Kylian is a PSG player and will be a PSG player. I am not worried”.
PSG president Al Khelaifi to @canalplus: “No way Mbappé leaves, I assure you he will stay at PSG. He wants to stay and he’s not going anywhere. Blocked by Mbappé's extension? No, we are not blocked at all. We are really calm, very relaxed”.
