Man City book their place in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with an emphatic 4-1 win over Arsenal

Manchester City picked up a 4-1 win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals earlier tonight.

The Manchester outfit have now booked their place in the semi-finals alongside Brentford. Two of Stoke City, Tottenham, Everton and Manchester United will book the other two positions and complete the semi-final line up of this season’s League cup tomorrow.

Manchester City made a spectacular start to the game with a goal two minutes in when Gabriel Jesus headed in from six yards after a pinpoint cross from Zinchenko.

Mustafi and Gabriel left the Brazilian free inside the Arsenal box and the Gunners paid the price for their poor defending.

Manchester City dominated the game and managed to create a considerable amount of chances after taking the lead.

However, Arsenal got back into the game against the run of play and scored the equalizer out of nowhere on the 31st minute.

Alexandre Lacazette headed in at the back post after a quality cross from Gabriel Martinelli. Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte will be disappointed with his defending for the goal.

Arsenal goalkeeper Runarsson came up with a shocking error to put Manchester City 2-1 up on the 53rd minute. He let Riyad Mahrez’s free-kick slip through his hands to concede a soft goal.

Manchester City doubled their advantage five minutes later when Phil Foden capitalized on a through pass from Fernandinho to lift the ball over the Arsenal keeper.

Manchester City wrapped up the scoring on the 72nd minute when Aymeric Laporte took advantage of a short corner and headed home at the back post.

It was another disappointing outing for Arsenal and it was their heaviest home defeat in a domestic Cup competition since 1998.

Gabriel Martinelli was probably the only positive for the London side tonight but his injury limited his impact just 45 minutes and it will be interesting to see if he can return to action soon.
