Manchester United are interested in signing the Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly this summer.
As per reports, the Red Devils are now firm favourites to sign the player.
The likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG were keen on Koulibaly as well but they have now pulled out of the race leaving United with a free run at the 28-year-old.
The European giants are looking to strengthen the other areas of their squad now.
It will be interesting to see if United can make the most of this opportunity and secure the transfer in the coming months.
Kalidou Koulibaly is a world class player and he would improve United a lot.
The Red Devils spent £85million on Harry Maguire last summer and they are prepared to pay around £80m to sign Koulibaly this summer.
If they can get the deal over the line, it would give them the best centre back pairing in the league.
Liverpool and Manchester City both have quality defensive pairings but Maguire and Koulibaly could be immense in theory.
Manchester United will be hoping to challenge for the Premier League title next season and they need world class players like Koulibaly to bridge the gap with their title rivals.
The Old Trafford outfit have massive cash reserves and despite the current financial stress, they have what it takes to pull off a big money signing like this.
Furthermore, Pogba has been linked with a return to Juventus and if that happens, they will be able to recoup a good amount of money from that sale and invest in Koulibaly.
