Manchester United have had a transfer window to forget this year.
Not only did they fail to land their top target – Jadon Sancho, they struggled to address all of their concerns as well.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the board spent a lot of time chasing unattainable targets and they eventually ended up with a few panic buys on deadline day.
The signing of Donny van de Beek, although impressive, was unnecessary. The Ajax ace will struggle to fit into the starting lineup if both Fernandes and Pogba are starting and he is more of a luxury addition.
Alex Telles is probably the only signing that improves them right away. Manchester United needed to improve on Luke Shaw and the former Porto star will do just that.
As for Edinson Cavani, although he is a proven goalscorer, he is 33 and he has not played for seven months. It would be surprising if he managed to make a bigger impact than Rashford, Martial or Greenwood this year.
Pellistri is a future investment along with Traore and the fans will have to be patient with those.
Manchester United needed signing that can improve them immediately and their failure to get the job done in the transfer market could cost them dearly on the pitch.
