Arsenal have agreed a £14m deal to sign Pablo Mari. According to Daily Mail, the Gunners have now agreed on a fee with Flamengo for the 26-year-old defender.

Mari joined Arsenal on loan in January and Arteta seems to rate the player.

It will be interesting to see how he performs next season. With the likes of Luiz expected to leave, Mari is likely to get loads of first team chances next year and the fans will be hoping he can deliver.

Arsenal have been quite poor at the back this season and they need to improve their defensive options this summer. The signing of Mari is well-timed and it will please the fans.

The defender is currently nursing an injury and he will return to action in November. It remains to be seen if he can adapt quickly and make his mark in England.

He hasn’t had too many chances to prove himself this season and it would only be fair to judge him when he has played a sufficient number of games.

Mari has played just 3 games for the Gunners since joining them in January.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal decide to bring in another defender this summer. Ideally, they should look to sign two centre backs. Mustafi has been quite poor for them and he needs replacing as well.

Sokratis is probably the only defender who is reliable at Arsenal right now.
