Guardiola on track to match the record of Ferguson and Wenger

Pep Guardiola-manchester City

The Spanish manager has dominated the Premier League with Manchester City this season.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is on the verge of achieving a new record that will place him among the elite.

Citizens have been relentless in the Premier League this season as they have so far gone on a 21-match winning streak.

Besides, they sit at the top of the pile with a 14-point lead, meaning that they are on course to win the Premier League.

If that happens, Guardiola will jin a single stint, with Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger are the only ones who have achieved the feat before.

Ferguson reclaimed the Premier League title with Manchester United six-times in a record thirteen wins while former Arsenal gaffer Wenger brought back the trophy home twice in his career.

Jose Mourinho has also done it at Chelsea but it took two different stints.

Guardiola steered Citizens to the Premier League crown for back to back seasons ( 2017-18, 2018-19) but lost it to Liverpool last term.

Now, Man City are on track to regain the title, with Liverpool struggling to make it to the top four.

When asked about the new record he is closing in on, the former Barcelona manager replied: “I don’t know when I sign to make history.

“Just to win one game. Then the second one. If we are able to play the team like we want to play, this is the only target. Titles are a consequence for something much deeper.
