Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham: Supersub Trezeguet leads comeback win for Villans

Aston Villa 1-0 Arsenal Trezeguet lifts Villa out of relegation zone

Villa turned it around at Villa park to pile more pressure on relegation-bound Fulham.

Aston Villa produced an incredible turn around at Villa Park as they beat Fulham 3-1, with Trezeguet and Ollie Watkins providing late goals.

Fulham thought they had the control of the game after striker Aleksandar Mitrovic scored his third goal of this season to break the deadlock around the half-hour mark.

However, Villa turned the tables sooner thanks to Dean Smith for his brilliant substitution of Trezeguet, who scored a quickfire brace to put his side on the front.

Ollie Watkins, who made his debut with England in the recent World Cup Qualifiers, put the game to bed by scoring the third of the night for the Lions.

Fulham had the chance to escape the relegation zone and go above Newcastle United but they blew their 1-0 lead away to remain 17th in the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Villans have jumped past the likes of Arsenal and Leeds United to move to ninth place and are seven points off the top-four race.

Moreover, the victory would give Villa a huge sigh of relief after they went winless in their last five Premier League games.

Trezeguet ending his goal drought and Watkins continues to be one of the league’s best

Egyptian striker Trezeguet has been underwhelming this season and he hadn’t scored previously in any games. Today he was able to break his goal drought and most importantly, his double ended up in winning cause.

On the other hand, Watkins has been more than impressive this season, finding the nets on 11 occasions. The 25-year-old had a dream international break after he scored his first goal in national colours.
